The DETAIL GEAR Dirt Shield creates a protective barrier/shield in your bucket, preventing contaminating your wash mitt or sponge. The advanced design helps keep your bucket water extremely clean, to reduce swirl marks and scratches as the dirt falls below the shield and doesn't 'stir up' when you dunk your mitt into the water. The four large legs at the base of the Dirt Shield calm the water and currents caused by your wash mitt/sponge below the shield and when dirt falls to the bottom of the bucket, it says there. You'll be surprised by the amount of dirt and grim begins to form at the bottom of your bucket!
